Before you read on - please like Ms. Morrison's Shortcake at:

It's that time again. Deanna Jaxine Stinson and I, will be working with Don Christensen and Nancy Williams of Ms. Morrison Shortbread. If you don't know, Ms. Morrison's Shortbread is world famous because they won the Betty Crocker Cook-off. If you sample Ms. Morrison's shortbread, you will know why. You can sample the traditional, chocolate chip, lemon, cinnamon, white chocolate macadamia, almond amaretto. So delicious, so mouth watering. When you have the chance, check out their lime curd and lemon curd too. A great way to tantalize the tastebuds! For more information, you can contact The Celtic Nook -

Angry Brians kicked axx with Imagine Dragon's Radioactive - hear them below, but right now, enjoy the real thing:

I met some interesting people at this festival. I met Maureen McGrath of Silver City, New Mexico. She claims that there is a leprechaun that lives in the basement of her New Mexico home. This leprechaun was invited into the home by her father. The leprechaun who is 6 feet tall loves to hand out St. Patrick's Day presents to the family. Once he gave a statue of a leprechaun to the head of the household. He loves wearing green and has cherry red cheeks. His favorite meal is potatoes and sausages. For more information you can contact

So as you can see there are some characters at this festival, just check out the photo slide to see for yourself.

There were many vendors for food, music, jewelry, Scottish memorabilia, various animals from cows to dogs to horses to sheep, clothes, hats. You name it and you can find it at the Scottish festival. The vendors that stick out in my mind are:

This one stand where Deanna ordered Mozzarella cheese, mushroom, onions, lettuce gyro and I ordered a lamb pita. Mmmmmmmmm.

The Family History of Surnames. For $23.00, I was able to obtain my wife's family history, she is from the Stinson Clan. When I was in Edinburgh, Scotland, I obtained my clan's history - The Roberts. The Family History of Surnames is located at 1582 Warmlands Avenue, Vista, CA 92084 and their phone number is 760 726-3691.

The Angry Brians - Email:
- The Angry Brians - Iligitimus Non Carborundum - this band has some great beats and they gathered a huge crowd that went wild to their music. They were giving the Wicked Tinkers a run for their money.
According to Randy Russell and Christie Ferreria of Clan Inebriated, the Wicked Tinkers are the official Scottish band for Clan Inebriated and the Angry Brians are the official Irish band for Clan Inebriated.

Rover Run - Carol Simonds and Jan Simonds - Email: Talk about some beautiful dogs!

Ladybank - Skye Terriers - Peggy Koff - Email:
If you love Skye Terriers, this is the place to be! They are located at: 21850 San Fernando Avenue, Cupertino, CA 95014 - 408 257-0103
If you don't know what a Skye Terrier is, they are a breed of dog that is a long, low, hardy terrier and "one of the most endangered native dog breeds in the United Kingdom" according to The Kennel Club.

More on Skye Terriers can be found with: Karen L. Sanders, Secretary - Skye Terrier Club of America - 11567 Sutters Mill Circle, Gold River, CA 95670-7208. A little history: The Skye Terrier originated centuries ago on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. Skyes were bred by farmers to destroy fox, badger and otter.

Scott Williams - presents HammerHands Music - Scott plays the Hammered Dulcimer. Elegant music that delivers a somber ambiance.

PS: According to Don Christensen - we are all 'carnies', me, Deanna and Don - since we are all working Ms. Morrison's Shortbread booth.
If this is true, Deanna is more of a carnie than me, she also works as an actress for the Horror Campout in Pleasanton and Sacramento.

I met two spectacular authors. T.E. Watson - Award Winning Scottish Children's Author, Columnist, Speaker. Email: - his achievements in writing are: "The Outstanding Young Journalist" from UPI sports writing. "The Picture Book of the Year 2001", and his most recent honor, being awarded a Fellowship in The Socity of Scottish Antiquaries, awarded by The Royal National Museum in Edinburgh Scotland. The other author I met was Amanda Scott. Amanda is the author of over 50 romance novels and the recipient of the Romance Writers of America's prestigious RITA Award. Her latest book is The Knight's Temptress. If you are a writer, check out California Writer's Club:

The final people I met on this day - 4/25/2015 were Randy Russell - Email: - Board Member of WAVE TV - Cable Channel 21 and his daughter Christie Ferreria. Randy and Christie explained to me that Club Inebriated was not invited this year to the Scottish Games and Festival. They tell me that this clan welcomes anyone to their clan, no matter what race, what color, what creed, etc. With Club Inebriated, you feel like you are part of the family and that they represent the joy and spirit of the Scottish games and festival.
They believe that some people believe that Clan Inebriated stands for Scottish or Irish people getting drunk and Christie says that is not what they are about. I learn that Randy Russell books all of the animals and entertainment for the festival and he is the past manager for the
Christie had a petition with many signatures of attendees. The attendees want Club Inebriated back. People wearing the t-shirts took a large group shot with the Wicked Tinkers. Randy says that Dennis Strawhun and Kelly Strawhun are the founders and owners of Club Inebriated. Dennis is the clan chief for Clan Inebriated and Randy reminds me, that anyone can join this clan.

Today, spent $20.00 cash for Banger & fries, vegie sausage for Deanna. Yes, the festival has some great food! Deanna couldn't get over how good her veggie sausage was.

One of the fantastic vendors they had this year at the Scottish Games and Festival was the Bodice Goddess. They sell hand made renaissance clothing such as bodice, chemise and skirts. Jessica Stilwell is a proud employee of Bodice Goddess - Facebook: Angel Bodice Goddess - email:

One of the fun things that I enjoyed watching at this festival was the beard and mustache contest. After the contest, the sounds of the Wicked Tinkers and Angry Brians resonated through the air.

Deanna and I, will be writing about the next event - - September 5 & 6 - Alameda County Fairgrounds - Pleasanton - Scottish Highland Gathering and Games 2015. See you all there!
